What is the difference between an energy storage battery and a power battery?
From the application side, batteries can be divided into digital batteries, power batteries and energy storage batteries.
As the name suggests, digital batteries refer to batteries used in digital products, such as mobile phones, notebook computers, mobile power supplies, etc. Lithium batteries opened the application market, starting from digital batteries.
Power batteries are generally divided into large power batteries and small power batteries. Large-power batteries mostly refer to batteries mounted on new energy vehicles, while small-power batteries refer to batteries mounted on electric bicycles or power tools.
The energy storage battery mainly provides electrical energy storage and electrical energy output. As an energy storage market where lithium batteries have not yet been greatly developed, what are the differences between the batteries used and power batteries? Can energy storage batteries and high-power batteries be used interchangeably?
Although sometimes interchangeable, but in fact not necessarily, the specific situation should be analyzed in detail.
First of all, see whether the energy storage battery can be used as a power battery.
The general application scenarios of energy storage batteries are the power consumption of some conventional electronic equipment, such as information base stations, some 3C electronic products, etc. Most of their discharge requirements are around 1C rate. The material performance will be relatively poor, such as the diaphragm, because the low-rate discharge lithium battery is not easy to heat, so in terms of temperature resistance, the diaphragm will be worse than the power battery, and the natural price is relatively lower.
Furthermore, in terms of internal resistance, due to the small discharge current of the battery, the internal resistance is generally larger than that of the power battery.
That is to say, although the energy storage lithium battery and the power lithium battery use the same type of battery material, the quality of the same material, the energy storage lithium battery is slightly worse, and the internal resistance will be higher, so in terms of overall price, generally It is said that energy storage lithium iron phosphate batteries are cheaper than power lithium iron phosphate batteries.
In fact, the energy storage battery also has a power type, such as supporting a stable current discharge capacity of about 5C, so can the energy storage battery be used in electric vehicles?
The first thing to look at is whether the types of the two batteries are the same, then whether the batteries are the same in capacity, and finally whether the stable discharge current supported by the energy storage lithium battery can support the requirements of the lithium battery for electric vehicles when driving, and Whether the maximum allowable current meets the requirements for short-term use of electric vehicles.
If these are met, it is also necessary to adjust the electric control system of the electric vehicle when the battery is replaced.
Second, power batteries are used for energy storage.
After designing and configuring the control system for the discharge size of the lithium battery, the lithium battery of the electric vehicle can be used as an energy storage lithium battery. However, it may not be ideal in terms of economics, after all, the cost of batteries and power control systems are high.
This is also one of the reasons why power batteries can be used in cascade.
